Time!

Time
"Time, the cradle of hope.... Wisdom walks before it, opportunity with it, and repentance behind it:  he that has made it his friend will have little to fear from his enemies, but he that has made it his enemy will have little to hope from his friends."
~Charles Caleb Colton~
There are some issues in life that must be attended to immediately while there are others that only time can predict! Watching a young person find themselves can be excruciating painful for a parent, but the parent must trust the skills they have instilled in their young and watch them figure out how to apply those lessons to life! Wisdom is not instantly acquired at the age of twenty one, it is earned thru trial and error at any age. Share your earned wisdom and let them know that although you may not agree you will support them in the end. It is their decision alone! When placed flatly in their hands young ones usually make the correct choice and if not, it is their lesson to stumble again! The fine line we walk as parents! If there are issues beyond control seek professional help.
I do not profess to have a shingle out side my front door but I can tell you that this back door therapy works most of the time. Sometimes there is a great deal more growth in giving up control than there is being in control! A little trial, a little error, for that well earned wisdom. Just some pressing issues on my mind!
"Life's not always fair.  Sometimes you can get a splinter even sliding down a rainbow."  ~Terri Guillemets~

Sage advice. I love the fact that you find a quote to use everyday.

I think overall this is good advice for most kids; however, I have watched my 30 year old son stumble and struggle his whole life. When he first started getting way off track in life tried all kinds of things, got him help, meds, etc. Nothing worked, so I stood back and watched him make a mess of his life. I'm there when he asks but for the most part, I stay out of it, hoping that life's lessons will eventually be learned. I'm still waiting. :(

Love the quote! Hope you have a great day.

According to Dr. Phil, it's the frontal lobe. Kids don't use good judgment till "it" is grown, which is in the early twenties!

I absolutely love your closing quotation. And so true. I believe it's necessary and healthy for kids to fall/fail at times. How else will they learn how to pick themselves back up when mom and dad aren't there? Of course, the invisible safety net can be stretched out underneath if necessary! :-)
