Halloween Fun!

Bewitching Hat
Liz Taylor
These two beautiful ladies own their own businesses! Downtown, Fort Myers I visited a jewelry shop and the owner Bonnie was displaying new items, getting ready for Halloween! I adored her hat and asked if she would model for me! Once again thankful that I had my little point and shoot camera with me. She is a wonderful spirit and her beauty truly shines through! Thank you Bonnie!
The second beautiful lady just happens to be my daughter. She sent me this photo yesterday via her cell phone. Wish I had been back in Massachusetts with my big Canon. I thought her so beautiful, I doctored the photo up some with a texture and black and white effects. She did her own makeup for that Liz Taylor Look! Love those eyebrows!
Thank You ladies and Happy Halloween Everyone!

She's A Lady!!!

Lady Fish
"Well she's all you'd ever want,
She's the kind they'd like to flaunt and take to dinner.
Well she always knows her place.
She's got style, she's got grace, She's a winner.
She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady."
~Tom Jones~
Sometimes a girl just has to have fun! Yes, yes that would be me! I painted this fun Lady Fish in the last couple of days and I must say I love her personality!
She's pretty FUN-ky. Shy would not be a way to describe her!
She is painted in acrylic and is 20" X 24".
I have an Etsy account, which I have never used, maybe she will just have to swim on over there.
Enjoy!!!

A Howling Halloween Parade!

Geisha Girls...so cute and proper!
Ahoy Matey...fix that patch...will ya!
Basset Lounge....those short cat naps take away the edge!
Later Gator...my bark is bigger than my bite!
Peter Pan & Tinkerbell...ready to fly!
Perky Cheerleaders...sis boom bah!
After dropping some friends off at the airport we decided to have dinner at a small local mall. We could hear a great deal of barking but had no idea why??? As we turned the corner we were greeted by hundreds of people parading their dogs all dressed in costume, each waiting their turn on a center stage!
Once again, so glad to have had my little point and shoot camera for those unexpected moments!
Most were uncomfortable in costume, but somehow endured with the aroma of doggy treats being shared! It was a feast for the eyes and so much fun!
I captured just a few! Enjoy!

Almost Forgotten!

Twilight, Neptune Beach, Florida
"Boredom is the feeling that everything is a waste of time; serenity, that nothing is."
~Thomas Szasz~

Amazing what you can find when your not looking! I was downloading photos from my point and shoot camera, when I came across some captures that I had taken on our journey home to Florida.

Totally forgotten and a pleasant surprise, my senses were rekindled into instant recollection of the event.
We had enjoyed a great dinner, a glass of merlot, then decided to visit the beach before retiring for the evening!

It was about 7:30 PM, the ocean commanded one's attention, the atmosphere assaulted by a heavy and looming  humidity.
The wind was wild and spirited, only several brave souls graced the seascape. Waves somewhat disjointed pounded the shore in a thunderous and deafening manner. There was no time for thought, only to experience the attack on the senses that Mother Nature with all her glory and strength had to offer.

I snapped a half dozen photos, we decided regretfully not to walk the beach and enjoy the fury from our  balcony!  As serene as this photo may seem the physical experience quite different and exhilarating!
Never a boring moment as long as my camera is in hand and a supportive husband by my side!
Have a wonderful day!

Home At Last!

almost there.......
only a few more miles......
settling in.........
Yes we are finally home and I do apologize to all of my blogging friends for not keeping up with comments! Just know that I miss you all and will catch up soon!
Leaving last Sunday, always a better day for us to travel through the Northeast Corridor! Less traffic going through New York and DC and yes we have tried many other routes. We made it to Emporia, VA on our first day and then onto Jacksonville on the second! We stayed in Neptune Beach part of the Jacksonville Beach chain! The hotel we chose was built in 1954 and very eclectic at that, a beautiful ocean view, what a treat!
Arriving home on Wednesday and settling in, has filled our week! Friends made us dinner upon our arrival and it was so appreciated.
Had to go into the archives to retrieve a few photos from last spring! These were taken at Ding Darling State Park, Sanibel, FL.
Certainly not my best work, but I do believe I captured the gracefulness of this inquisitive Heron.
Looking forward to many more photos and adventures!
Have a great day!

Good Bye New England, Hello Florida!

Harbour, Fairhaven, Massachusetts
"The secret to a rich life is to have more beginnings than endings."~Dave Weinbaum~
If this quote be true, I am a woman of great wealth! With each season a new episode, a fall preview so to speak. Since retirement our existence a constant range of motion! As we ready to return to our home in Florida we bid our children, family and friends farewell, a sadness always fills my heart. We look forward, however, to a new season in Florida, bejeweled with many wonderful and supportive friends.
Long hours on the road back, we make every stop an adventure and take our time.
We have explored many new places during our journeys, up and down the east coast, there are many more gems yet to be discovered and photographed.
Always something new, always a new beginning, never any time to submit to boredom!

Balance, Order, Rhythm, Harmony!

Balance...
Order...
Rhythm...
Harmony...
Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony.~Thomas Merton~
One can always say the nicest things with flowers! One of life's simple pleasures they always make me happy!
Capturing a few more photos before the blossoms rest for winter break!
Well deserved as they have shown their beauty well intensifying the magic of summer!
I await their grand entrance come next Spring, adding to the balance, order, rhythm and harmony of life!

The Westport River Bridge!

Westport Point, Westport, Massachusetts

Westport River, East Branch View, Ship's Rock, right. We use to live round the bend up river a piece!

Westport Point, view two. Can you smell the salty air?

Westport River Bridge, view from Westport Point (Normand Edward Fontaine Bridge)
I have crossed this bridge many times in my life with town beaches as our usual destination. Many summers were enjoyed here as my children and I loved those long and lazy beach days. The bridge with it's beautiful views signified that our destination was always close at hand.
My camera and recent passion for photography beckoned me to stop and capture it's magnificence!
This is about as New England as you can get folks! Enjoy!

A Peaceful Place!

those Bette Davis Eyes....do grasshoppers have teeth?

so mellow so yellow.......

pretty flowers for sale.....
fresh veggies for sale....
two chicks hitching a ride, cabbie fueling up.....

heading for the barn.....
Stopping for sweet corn at our favorite New England farm stand I was very glad to have had my little point and shoot camera!
Before I entered the barn I encountered a grasshopper dining on some scrumptious sunflowers, out came the point and shoot. The corn would just have to wait, I thought.
Look at those lovely fresh flowers sitting on a window shelf, snap, snap, snap!
A healthy combination of vegetables all washed and ready for sale, how delightful!
I then meandered over to the barn and caught Jack the donkey dining with a couple of anxious and curious chickens, wanting to hitch a ride.
Is it my imagination or does Jack look a little prego ???
Finally farmer Manley, leading his horse to shelter for the evening!
Life is simple here, but I can't even imagine how hard the Manley's work to keep this beautiful place so orderly and impeccably cared for.
Oh yes the corn, luckily hubby was with me and picked some delectable specimens, he paid for them using the honor box, no cashier!
Such a peaceful place, my camera has taught me to appreciate the finer things in life, the very things that sustain us yet go unnoticed unless we take the time to look!

I used several of Kim Klassen's textures at various percentages.

Old Cape Cod!

Estuary
"An estuary is a partly enclosed coastal body of water with one or more rivers or streams flowing into it, and with a free connection to the open sea."~google search~

This photo is part of the Red Boat Chronicle series, I added Kim Klassen's dream-it texture at 100% first layer, at 47% on the duplicate layer both on soft light. I then created a mask and erased some texture from the trees.

Just a little song below for you to hum today! Remember this one?
Old Cape Cod, Patti Page
If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air
Quaint little villages here and there
You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod
Cape Cod, that old Cape Cod

If you like the taste of a lobster stew
Served by a window with an ocean view
You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod

Winding roads that seem to beckon you
Miles of green beneath a sky of blue
Church bells chimin' on a Sunday morn
Remind you of the town where you were born

If you spend an evening you'll want to stay
Watching the moonlight on Cape Cod Bay
You're sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod

Such beautiful memories! Enjoy!

Last fall we took a leisurely ride down to Cape Cod, MA, checking out a cottage rental for this summer. Route 28 is a long and winding road with many distractions, some of interest, and a great deal of traffic!

Crossing a small bridge into Harwich, I caught a glimpse of some amazing and spectacular red boats. "What a gorgeous picture," I thought out-loud. Hubby said, "we'll catch them on the way back, there's too much traffic right now."

The capture never happened, last fall as we exited the Cape from a different direction! I mentioned the red boats to my friend Judy at the beginning of our summer rental and she knew exactly the spot, mentioning that she wanted to photograph them as well. A few more weeks passed and still no red boat photos!

Attending an art show in Hyannis we came across a photographer who displayed a photo of our red boats, still a vivid memory. "Wow Judy, we have to get over there and get some pictures soon," I said. Later we learned that the boats are one of the most photographed scenes on the Cape.

Several more weeks somehow escaped us! Making it a priority, last Thursday was designated, Red Boat Day, it was going to happen! We will get up before sunrise and make the half hour journey to Harwich to photograph before first light, was the plan. Un-showered, uniformed in sweat pants, sleepy eyed, yawning, along with bed hair we made the jaunt.

What a spectacular morning it was! The serenity deafening, mirror like would be the perfect description of the saltwater estuary. A slight mist covered the marsh, the air clean and fresh with the hint of a warm day yet to follow. I was in photography heaven with a couple of my favorite people who share my photo addiction. Dueling shutter buttons were the only sound that resonated other than an occasional bird whisking by.

Later that afternoon returning from an event, we noticed that one of the boats was occupied. Burly and heavily tattooed sat a sixty-fiveish long-gray haired man holding a bamboo fishing rod sitting under a grass umbrella. I’m guessing that he is a Vietnam Veteran, hence the name Hero on the side of the boat. Just a hunch!

Pleased with our new discovery and captures we decided to return at sunset, making it a Grand Slam Red Boat Day and so we did!  Over two hundred photos later I’m not even sure I picked the best ones. I wish to frame a couple and that I will do as a friendly reminder to never, ever pass up a great shot.
Some are very much worth waiting for!
