Bromeliad
"Every time you eat a pineapple, you are eating a bromeliad!  There are approximately 2,877 different species of bromeliads divided into 56 genera. All bromeliads except for one species are native to the New World tropics and sub tropics. Their center of distribution is Brazil. The pineapple was the first bromeliad to be widely cultivated in horticulture. Christopher Columbus brought the plants to Europe from Guadeloupe in 1493. Because of their unique, water holding shapes, bromeliads growing in their native habitats often serve as drinking fountains or swimming pools for small animals living high in the treetops."~Google Search~ 
This magnificent beauty was growing proudly near a path leading to the beach! I loved it's towering structure, so very prim and proper. Not sure I've ever seen one growing by the beach before but it was Naples after all. The colors subtle against the rustic fence lent themselves to a perfect, harmonious capture.
Not sure which species or genera the above bromeliad belongs to, and did not realize the pineapple was part of the bromeliad family! Love learning something new everyday!

Fried Green Tomatoes!

Ingredients:
1 extra large egg
4 tablespoons milk
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 green tomatoes, sliced
Directions: In a small bowl whisk together egg and milk. In another small bowl mix cornmeal and flour. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat; use more or less oil to reach about 1/4 inch in depth. Dredge tomato slices first in egg mixture, then in cornmeal mixture.
Carefully place slices in hot oil and cook until browned on both sides.

The recipe, is just a little bonus today, this post is actually about choosing a movie title. The photo is entered into Kim Klassen's, Texture Tuesday Challenge, the theme this week is movie title, the photo must tie into the title of the movie. I also used Kim's texture, Just A Stitch. 

If you haven't seen the movie I highly recommend it. I watch it at least once a year, with a great big bowl of popcorn and still laugh till I cry. If you haven't tried fried green tomatoes I highly recommend them as well. My friend Gail made us a batch, when she visited several years ago. Maybe I'll just whip up a batch myself or maybe I'll just have to invite Gail over again!
