mystery bicycle by the sea... |
such joy and levity you bring to me... |
you bathe my heart in harmony... "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate." ~Oprah Winfrey~ After enjoying a great dinner in Bokeelia, Pine Island, Florida, with hubby and our visiting son we headed home. It was about six o'clockish, daylight retiring, a bit chilly and overcast. My shutter finger itching to capture me a photo of interest. Well ask and you shall receive! Round the bend I could see a hint of color and asked hubby to slow down, so I could investigate! How did I miss this one on the ride down, I thought? There it was in all it's glory, a hand painted bike resting between two large palm trees begging to be captured. Hubby yelled at me to be careful as we were parked on a curve. Sometimes my excitement takes over common sense and I expect the waters to part so I can photograph! Click, click, click, I then realized where I was standing!!! Red ant hills everywhere and God only knows what lived under that scrubby brush??? Insects here are on steroids, I escaped unscathed, my creative beast almost satisfied! So lucky am I though to have had dinner with two of my favorite guys and to have found this glorious bike displayed for the enjoyment of all that passed her. Guess it's all those little things we need to appreciate, those little things we need to celebrate! I used kim Klassen's texture, Kristin @ 85%. Sharing with: http://www.aruraljournal.com/ |

she is a beauty of a bike! well worth a risked ant bite or two! :)
What a great bike, and how fortunate you were that the red ants decided you were not their dinner.
Wonderful shot worth the risk. We get into our creative right side of the brain mode, and goodbye logical left brain side....Glad the ants stayed put. :))
What a great paint job on that bike!
I wonder who is the owner, very colorful. If I were to guess it would be a woman or girl.
Beautiful photos, excellent colors.
Looks like yard art, and she is a beut! Glad you were spared wrath of the ants!
Just love the bike....the story of the ants and insects cracked me up....when on a photo field trip I usually end up with hitchhikers on my jeans and sneakers (stickers)...and I ALWAYS check for snakes wherever I wander..on the ground and overhead...it is one of my phobias...and since I love rural shots...you know they are there somewhere. Once I got down on the ground to take a photo and because I had been having trouble with my hip I couldn't get back up!!! I had to crawl back to my car to get some leverage to pull myself up....ever try to crawl with a camera in one hand that you were trying to protect???? Looking back it's funny...but when it was happening...not so much ;)
Awesome capture - I'm glad you escaped unscathed!
Lovely Bike Rosemary!
What a beautiful bike and what an excellent photo opportunity! I like the third one best with the textures of the trees and grass behind the bright colours of the bike.
I would have stopped for this shot, too! What a cool bike with cool colors and designs. My husband often cautions me as he did today because I forget about my safety when I'm holding my camera. I feel invincible with it!
Thankfully you escaped unharmed! Someone has a creative eye for their paintwork.
My favorite shot is the second one, because I believe you captured the beautiful setting the best. I'm glad those fierce ants didn't get you in the process. Blessings!
Photos are definitely dangerous, in many occasions.
she is definitely the most beautiful bike I've ever seen! thank you for taking the risk and photograph such precious thing! :) xxo
Oh boy - that's what happens when seeing through camera lines :) ... So good that nothing worse happened! I love the colorful bicycle!
What a beautiful bike!! All it needs is a basket with flowers in the front!!
Ooooo, red ants can be nasty creatures, but I would have done the same for this wonderful bicycle.
What a find!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Rosemary!
I very much like that colourful bike but the ants? Not so much.
Wow!!! I was never ever so impressed with photos like I just did...seriously stunning. Love it! xx
I am very new to your site and I am definitely keep coming back so I just followed you x
I have a bike "planted" in my yard - it's not nearly as colorful as this one though!
Rosemary, I'm so glad you found that whimsical bike. I'm an avid cyclist, and although my bike is not nearly as beautiful to look at, your pictures today have brought a huge smile to my face.
A serendipitous moment to spot the bike..great photo...Happy Thanksgiving!
That bike conjures a few story plots! Love the creative hand painted flowers.
I can so identify Rosemary! It is easy to get caught up in the moment and concentrate so hard on what you see through the camera lens that you lose awareness of what is going on around you. I am glad that you escaped unharmed. What a great bike though!
P.S. I love the images and the textural effect that you used in your Remembrance Day post!
What a beautiful colorful bike, great find !
Nice evening,
Sylvia
Now that is a lovely bike - well spotted. :)
Love the whimsy!
now that's a bike!!
Great captures! Worth the risks!
May I have permission to paint this for myself?
Cool post, lucky find. Thanks for visiting Bridgit's Bell!
