Almost Forgotten!

Twilight, Neptune Beach, Florida
"Boredom is the feeling that everything is a waste of time; serenity, that nothing is."
~Thomas Szasz~

Amazing what you can find when your not looking! I was downloading photos from my point and shoot camera, when I came across some captures that I had taken on our journey home to Florida.

Totally forgotten and a pleasant surprise, my senses were rekindled into instant recollection of the event.
We had enjoyed a great dinner, a glass of merlot, then decided to visit the beach before retiring for the evening!

It was about 7:30 PM, the ocean commanded one's attention, the atmosphere assaulted by a heavy and looming  humidity.
The wind was wild and spirited, only several brave souls graced the seascape. Waves somewhat disjointed pounded the shore in a thunderous and deafening manner. There was no time for thought, only to experience the attack on the senses that Mother Nature with all her glory and strength had to offer.

I snapped a half dozen photos, we decided regretfully not to walk the beach and enjoy the fury from our  balcony!  As serene as this photo may seem the physical experience quite different and exhilarating!
Never a boring moment as long as my camera is in hand and a supportive husband by my side!
Have a wonderful day!

Clouds Add Texture!

Clouds
"Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky."~Rabindranath Tagore~
We were sitting on a bench appreciating the beauty of the Caloosahatchee River the other evening, enjoying the cloud formations and all that Mother Nature had to offer! Spending time with her seems to be an addiction I have developed of late. I have learned to love clouds and cloudy days. Finding familiar objects in their formations is a fun game to play. Cloudy days are best for photographing, allowing one to rest from the sometimes, blistering sunshine!
Clear blue skies are wonderful to witness but clouds build character, adding interest to nature's canvas and character to one's soul. Another layer of texture in the fabric of life!
No man is beyond a little rainfall, it's how we weather the drops that matter!
Examine the clouds as they are sure to clear leaving one wiser to truly enjoy the blissful sunshine!

The Water Caught Fire!

Silence
"The sky broke like an egg into full sunset and the water caught fire."~Pamela Hansford Johnson~
The silence was so loud one could hear the grass grow! Last evening our golf cart expedition set out a bit late around 7:15PM. We only had a short period of time to capture the quiet. It was as though the earth took a deep breath and held it the entire time we were about. No breeze to be had, yet warm and comfortable. Many homes scattered about the golf course, not a sound to be heard. The insects held off on their evening melody, croaking frogs lay silent, chirping birds home in their nests! A feather falling may have been detected! Mother Nature was taking a nap! Eerie but very beautiful we forged ahead. Hubby at the helm!
No wildlife to capture and a bit disappointed, when suddenly the sun saved the day and bid us a fond farewell in very grand style.
It is wonderful how it happens day after day, repetitious yet unique each and every time if we only take a moment to notice.
Have a wonderful day!

Remember When!

Remember When
"Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookn' back it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are,
Where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when
Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when"

~Alan Jackson, Lyrics~

Hazy Hot & Humid!

East Beach, Westport, MA
East Beach, yes those are rocks!
Allen's Pond, view from East Beach
Gooseberry Neck Beach, over looking Buzzards Bay
Westport River,  Last Light
The summertime's famous three H's, forecast, Hazy, Hot and Humid, 95 degrees and climbing. The humidity was so heavy yesterday you could see it, cut it with a knife and eat it with a spoon. Every pore releasing fluid at a rapid rate with no relief in site anytime soon. Yes, we are in the dead heat of summer folks.
These photos were taken last evening between 7:00 and 8:30 PM, within a two mile radius. The beaches were still crowded with people seeking relief, not everyone here has air conditioning. Boston reached a high of 103 and Providence recorded 101. Not much sympathy from my southern friends for sure, however, this is the northeast after all.
I could not decide which photo to share with you today, so I chose five out of the one hundred and nine captured. Hazy, textures and filters provided by Mother Nature, herself.
Try to have a wonderful cool day today, maybe I'll just stay inside!

Diamonds in the Sky!

Diamonds in the Sky
If I can put one touch of rosy sunset into the life of any man or woman,
I shall feel that I have worked with God. ~Gilbert K. Chesterton
This photo  was taken from a top of a cruise ship while we were leaving Key West, Florida.
Hordes of people struggled  for railing space to capture a photo or glimpse of nature's most brilliant work of art.
People gather early evening on Mallory Pier to celebrate and toast the sun's departure. Applause is offered and human nature is at it's best. We must hold on to all those happy times to ride us thru any storm and know that with time, these trials shall pass.
Happiness is always just a sunset away!

On the Eve of the Eve!

On the Eve of the Eve
New Year's eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.  ~Hamilton Wright Mabie

I took this photo yesterday, of Falmouth Harbor, Massachusetts. It was a moment of silence and breathtaking to view. The day was very cold, one could even say blustery, no amount of clothing could possibly take the chill away.

We were visiting with our son who is employed here. He is happy and life is good for him. What greater gift can a parent experience then the joy of witnessing their child's triumphs.
Somehow the cold didn't seem to matter any longer!
