TV Mode!

I took a photography class last evening and here are some of the subjects we talked about: aperture, shutter speed, ISO, Auto Focus, Manual Mode, Auto Mode, AV Mode, Program Mode, TV Mode and adjusting different options in the menu. Yikes how much of it did I retain, not sure yet will just have to practice. So much for getting out of my comfortable automatic setting zone.
 It is amazing how one little black box can keep me so entertained for such a very long time.
If I remember correctly I took the above photo with the class in AV Mode, think we were going for shutter speed here trying to freeze the water in place.
So much to learn, so much to retain, the more I learn the more I realize how much more I need to know. 
The instructor said it would all make sense soon and I did have a couple of light bulb moments! 
Simply can't wait until my next class.

This simple photograph holds the key to future exploration in the direction of where I would like to bring my work.
Like anything else there are trends in photography. From what I am observing on the Flickr.com website, the trend is lightness and softness.
I am so honored to be a part of this incredibly talented group of people. They range from amateur photographers to the best of the best. I am in visual heaven when I review their work.
The one thing that I am most in awe of, is their willingness to help with anything you want to learn. Many create masterful textures, free for downloading and only ask for credit in return.
Many have tutorials for the sheer experience of learning.  We are allowed to comment on each others work and also ask questions publicly or privately. I have a loyal group of followers as I am loyal to them. I meet new people everyday. My talent is challenged always, to bring you the very best of what I have to offer with the knowledge I possess at that time.
Interestingly enough I have had the honor to meet a group of woman who I am guessing are around my age. I base this on the fact that they mention their grandchildren and photograph them with such love and admiration. Some blog and some are exclusive to Flickr.
I thank them each and everyone for their inspiration. They take my breath away!

A Moment in Time
A photographer who made a picture from a splendid moment, an accidental pose of someone or a beautiful scenery, is the finder of a treaser. - Robert Doisneau -

I took this treasure in Costa Rica, and it truly is a capture of a moment in time! This gentleman was leisurely fishing on shore amongst huge crocodiles enjoying the peace and tranquility of his native land. We were, however, enjoying a tour of the Rain Forest, safely afloat, in a river boat.

I swear that I book travel just to take pictures, it somehow justifies my passion.
I have over 17,000 pictures in my photo library. I will share with you a few, from time to time. You know how we all feel about seeing vacation photos of others. Yawn! I can take two to four hundred photos in a day on vacation  and there are always those few outstanding gems that make it all worth while.
It's interesting how a photograph can help one remember so many details of any one particular day. Where we were, who we were with, the climate, etc., etc.

An understanding spouse and tolerant friends are always best to travel with, when one is possessed with the addictive traits of a photoholic.

Full admission: I am a photoholic, an addiction, I wish there to be no tonic or remedy!

So here I am back to the basics of learning and exploring Photoshop! Got a little side tracked there with the funnies. Those creative guides can just take me all over the place. However I am in total control today.

I so admire some of the very pretty work I have found on, The Coffee Shop Blog. www.coffeeshopblog.com. Following some of the tutorials I came up with the above 3 photos.

In search of items to photograph this morning, I discovered the perfect shadow box right on one of the shelves in my dining area! It's a good day and have learned lots. Showering, dressing and eating are next on my list. How fortunate I am! Talk to you tomorrow!

Had loads of fun with this photo! My daughter received an Orchid Plant from one of her lovely employees. It spoke to me in remembrance of the sweetness of spring.

I took some photos of the plant against a white door, loaded the photos into the computer, choose my favorite, opened it in photoshop, proceeded to crop and manipulated the background, filled it in with a matched color, tweaked the flowers themselves with different filters and blending modes, found and added a beveled border, added some textures, love the linen look, and then added text, Orchid. I then flattened the image and decided to try a black border! Wow, try doing that again, Rose.

All the while tuning out almost anything relevant to life itself! Breathing is one of those involuntary functions, thank goodness! I have truly found my passion and time seems to have very little significance. Even my growling stomach gets ignored. Photoshop might  even become a great weight loss tool as well. (he, he)

I am so grateful to have the time and a wonderful, supportive but hungry husband who has always endured my creative whims.

This photography passion however, is not a whim, I've made it official, Rosemary Aubut, Photography.
 I Believe it, own it, and love the look and sound of it!
Life, what an incredible journey!
