"Purple is the color of good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. Purple is a good color to use in meditation. Purple has been used to symbolize magic and mystery, as well as royalty. Being the combination of red and blue, the warmest and coolest colors, purple is believed to be the ideal color."~google search~ Yes, this all be true about purple but what was Princess Anne thinking yesterday? I am no fashion critic, but really Anne? Be still my heart, when the camera focused on you at the Royal Wedding, my eye balls screamed with visual discontent. It has been reported that you don't care about fashion. So why not then, something just plain and simple? Does the House of Windsor, have a fashion consultant? Did you seek out a designer or an upholsterer? I thought your floral coat, an old comfortable couch on it's way to Good Will. Or better yet, did you defrock a royal window of it's dressing and have a Scarlett O'Hara, kind of moment? I am not sure where your hat ended and your hair began, other than color to define it? A giant poof of spray and glue adorning your royal head, waiting for a homeless bird to seek refuge. My guess, Dear Anne, is that you have flawless skin, perfect teeth and a beautiful smile that somehow didn't translate well thru the instrument of capture. Your unexpurgated floral array of the color purple, stole your show. I'm usually a pretty positive person Anne, but somehow you have just ruffled my creative feathers! |

Hieroglyphics!
Hieroglyphics of Angels "Flowers have spoken to me more than I can tell in written words. They are the hieroglyphics of angels, loved by all men for the beauty of the character, though few can decipher even fragments of their meaning."~Lydia M. Child~ I awoke this morning at 5:23AM. Why is that so special, you ask? The number 235 in any combination has very special meaning for me. It stems from my grand-mother, who I do believe, played these numbers with the local bookies of her day. It was a city, neighborhood, kind of thing to do, long before our modern day lotteries. My dad, her son won seventeen hundred dollars with this number about fifty years ago. A sizable amount for that time. Have I played this number legally in all combinations, yes. Have I won anything, NO! Then why does it continue to pop up wherever I go? Dad was a very robust man and subtly was not one of his traits. He passed in 2003 at the age of eighty four. He was very ill the last four years of his life and depended on me a great deal towards the end. It was such a wonderful gift to have spent this special time with him. I got to know him in a way that I had never known. I grieved him all along the way. His passing a blessing. When I see the number 235 now, I know that it is he just saying hello and watching over me and my family. I asked for a sign on a medical decision for my mom. There it was the following day on a billboard on the side of the highway. An ad for an automobile and the price, you guessed it, $23,500.00. I told you he was not a subtle man. So I have to ask myself once again, have I won anything? A resounding yes! I have figured out the hieroglyphics of his messages from heaven. When I took my daughter and grand-children to the Naples Botanical Gardens last week the entry fee for all five of us was $53.25. He loved flowers so, his hobby, photography! I just know he had a good time! Submitted to: http://www.lgordonphotography.com/ |

More On Water Lilies
"These landscapes of water and reflections have become an obsession. It's quite beyond my powers at my age, and yet I want to succeed in expressing what I feel."~Claude Monet~
I know, I know, I know, there I go again with all that water lilly stuff and another Monet quote to boot. I expressed my fondness for water lilies in an earlier blog last week. I am intoxicated with their beauty. So intoxicated in fact, that I brought my daughter and grand-daughters back to the Naples Botanical Gardens to view them this week. This photo has one very lucky duck floating around, last weeks photo did not. Of all the ponds in Florida this chic little duck chose a lagoon with all the bling. Lucky ducks usually work very hard and their luck is not always left up to chance.
My daughter was mesmerized by their beauty and loved the variety of color. Sophie, the nine year old was skipping, jumping and pointing with excitement, as only the freedom of childhood allows within the parameters of good behavior. Her enthusiasm contagious. My beautiful Hannah Rose, however, the pre-teen, pre-acne, pre-hormonal, post braces, twelve year old was welled up in tears. Princess, Pout-A-Lot, would be a great title for the ruler of her kingdom. My sweet baby, I declared you have a choice, to enjoy this beauty and make the best of it, or you can continue to be miserable for the rest of the stay. No one was going to rain on Grandma's parade. Ice cream and a cold drink seemed to change the temperature all the way around and a memorable day was had by all. Such a lucky grandma am I!
Suffering thru her journey, to be twelve again! Such a beautiful and lucky little duckling!

A Test of Patience!
Flawlessness "One look at the flower and you will know what can be the most significant meaning of plumeria flower. Yes, it is beauty, charm and grace. Plumeria flowers with their beautiful colors and fragrance symbolize natural beauty. Secondly, plumeria flowers represent spring and new life. They are also associated with beginning or birth of something. Plumeria flowers have a special meaning in the Hawaiian culture as it symbolized everything good in it. The plumeria flower also stands for paragon or flawlessness."~google search~ These beautiful flowers grow as a tree or a bush here in Florida and in many tropical and sub-tropical climates. They are dormant for a long time and actually are quite unattractive. Just wooden sticks in the ground, or so I thought. Aha, but he who has patience will reap the reward of their showy blooms and sweet fragrance. If you have been to Hawaii, you may recognize them as the flower of choice for the welcoming leis. Just another one of those wonderful surprises that Mother Nature holds in store for us to savor it's presence. My neighbors tell me that they are easy to propagate, just cut off a branch and stick it in the ground. You know that could work for me, but do I have the equanimity(big girl word for patience) to withstand the dormancy that is the prelude to a symphony by nature??? Patience is that a virtue? |
